Sophie Peterson is a Chicago-based visual artist and art director known for her bold, layered approach to color, texture, and form. Working primarily in acrylic painting and 2D collage, she transforms traditionally feminine materials—like glitter, gold leaf, and ephemera into euphoric, emotionally rich compositions that blur the line between chaos and control.
As an art director, Sophie applies this same eye for detail and storytelling to creative projects across narrative, editorial, and installation. Her work is driven by a love of maximalism, nostalgia, and surreal imagery, building visual experiences that are as striking as they are emotionally resonant.
Her art has appeared in publications across the U.S. and exhibited in Chicago venues including Rubberneck Gallery, Three Seeds, Tradition Gastropub, and Columbia Library on Michigan Avenue. She’s also collaborated with contemporary art platforms like State of the Art Chicago.
